Okay, the bark has been steeping on low all day. I steeped a piece of old quilt cotton from my stash that was a soft yellow. After a couple hours it came out a bit darker, almost like tea dying. I quickly took another piece and soaked it in the iron mordant that I’ve been brewing, rinsed it and popped it in the dye bath. after maybe 15 minutes I pulled it out and it was much darker and a bit cooler in tone. You can see the swatches in the photo. Left to right we have the control swatch, the iron mordant swatch, and the dye bath only swatch. Very interesting.
